Job Description:

Extreme Excavating is looking for a Skilled Mainline Water and Sewer Excavator Operator with a minimum 5 years experience in heavy equipment operations in civil construction.

In this role, you are responsible for day-to-day duties on site needed to complete work in a safe and timely fashion and maintain a clean work site.

Fine grading, trenching, and excavation abilities are essential for this position

Qualifications Needed:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the heavy equipment operations in civil construction.
  • Ability to work with a sewer/water main crew under the supervision of a foreman
  • Ability to work with trench boxes (moving, lifting, installing..)
  • Experience lowering materials for the piping crew.
  • Ability to excavate for the installation of mainline sewer/water main, chambers, manholes, services, backfill, and road reconstruction in traffic closures and around exiting utilities
  • Able to verify the location of utilities or other dangers in the ground before starting excavation.
  • Safety orientated, self-motivated, and work well with others.

 

Certification Required:

  • WHMIS 2015
  • Level 1 First Aid
  • CSTS 09
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Job Description:

Extreme Excavating Ltd. is hiring a Pipe Foreman to lead a deep utilities crew in the installation of water, sewer, and storm infrastructure as well as shallow utility construction. The Pipe Forman will also lead grading crews in the completion of roadway and sidewalk prep. This role will be responsible for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, daily coordination, and supervision. The Pipe Forman will also assist with cost control. This role is a key participant in the relationship with the sub contractors and client.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Conduct daily tool box meetings, ensure hit lists are completed. Ensure crew members and subcontractors are completing their work in a safe manner.
  • Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources in the construction project.
  • Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
  • Engage in open communication with the crew, Superintendent, Project Managers, and Surveyors and report any issues which could affect the project plan.
  • Ensure proper grading of pipe is completed
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget.
  • Identify and execute best practices concerning the efficient use of construction materials.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained and used effectively.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Ensure all new hires receive their required orientation, and attend company designated training.
  • Monitor and manage employee attendance, ensuring the timely arrival and participation of all crew members, and notifying employees of rain days, prior to the start of the work.
  • Liaise between the company and employees on a variety of employee related matters.
  • Respectfully and thoroughly investigate all employee concerns.

Qualifications and Abilities Needed:

  • High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade
  • Proven ability to lead and direct people, equipment and resources
  • Minimum 6 years experience in the underground civil utilities field such as water main, sanitary and storm sewers hydro, telephone, cable vision and appurtenances, sewer lift stations and road building
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge in survey layout
  • Foreman: 3 years (required)
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system
  • Good physical condition.

Job Description:

Qualifications and Abilities Needed:

  • 3 years’ experience in the underground civil utilities field such as water main, sanitary and storm sewers hydro, telephone, cablevision and appurtenances, sewer lift stations and road building.
  • Basic plan reading, following written instruction and helping supervisors with layout
  • Ability to check slopes and grades for conformance to requirements on plans using levels or laser
  • Ability to ensure the slopes meet the minimum WorkSafeBC requirements
  • Knowledge of bedding and compaction requirements
  • Proficiency with cutting bevelling and connecting pipes
  • Ability to install or repair water, sanitary or storm water structures or systems
  • Ability to grade or level trench bases using tampers and hand tools
  • Ability to locate existing utilities using plans and a locator
  • Ability to set up of pipe laser and maintain required grade
  • Tap services ¾ to 2 inches using required equipment
  • Ability to align and position pipes prior to bedding and backfill
  • Proficiency with operation of basic tools of the trade i.e.; pipe saw, builders level, jumping jack and 1000 lb plate compactor
  • Able to keep an accurate daily record of production
  • A clear history of working safely in all aspects of the work being undertaken (preparation, in-progress and clean up), including identifying, reporting or correcting all hazards and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on a regular basis
  • Able to follow directions of Supervisor and ensure work is performed to the specifications for each job

Extreme Excavating is looking for a Civil Construction Labourer with previous experience working in underground utility or civil construction industry.

In this role, you are responsible for day-to-day duties on site needed to complete work in a safe and timely fashion and maintain a clean work site.

You are practiced at operating a variety of machinery (cutoff saw, jumping jack, plate tamper) As part of the crew, and in collaboration with the other crew members, you will complete work safely and efficiently, and on the job safety training will be provided.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Able to work safely in a physically demanding environment

Job Description:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic repairs, overhauls, maintains and services on and off road heavy equipment. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery
  • Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel powered vehicles, heavy trucks and heavy equipment
  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains and services drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, vehicle brake systems, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering
  • Practices workplace safety

Qualifications Needed:

  • Completion of Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
  • Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
  • Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors and other pieces of heavy equipment

Job Description:

Extreme Excavating Ltd is looking for a Safety Advisor, who will work with Management to oversee field operations ensuring compliance with Company Safety Program and WorkSafeBC Regulation.

A flexible and adaptable applicant must be able to manage own workload effectively and respond to situations as they arise. Constant maintenance of pre-qualification safety programmes and COR compliance are key components of this job.

The Safety Advisor is also responsible for providing support to the project management team, foremen and workers. This position should provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day safety requirements of the assigned project.

 

Qualifications and Abilities Needed:

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in the Health and Safety field
  • Practical experience conducting COR maintenance audits
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulations, company safety programs, documentation and reporting requirements, construction safe work practices, and equipment/operator certification requirements for place of work.
  • Ability to develop upon existing systems, implement new and changing safety programs
  • Must be able to review and revise site safe work practices and procedures to ensure consistency with company safety standards and compliance with site specific regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage the development of site safety plans for major projects.
  • Assessment of site specific requirements which include customer’s requirements, emergency protocols, safe work plans and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with auditing site safety performance and evaluating program implementation. Able to recommend corrective actions as needed and follow up to ensure implementation.
  • Able to withstand and adapt to change and growth
  • Excellent incident investigation skills
  • Excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Other duties as required

Certification Required:

  • Current CSO, NSCO or GSC designation
  • Level 1 First Aid with CPR
